I get a ridiculous amount of giggles out of our favorite neighbors, the backyard birds. We are lucky enough to live near a pond (especially because we are in a densely populated suburb), and the diversity of bird life in our neighborhood is continually surprising. My husband got me an Audubon BirdCam for Christmas in '09 so I can see what's been going on while I am at work. It is how I found out that the "starling-proof" suet feeder is anything but and how I determined that the grackle flock was still around even though I hadn't seen them in ages. Some of the smarter birds seem to be on to me, though. Busted!
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and God. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles. - Anne Frank

Welcome
Hello, and welcome to my new blog! I decided to start one after being inspired by online writing that my students and I are doing for class. The easiest thing to forget, when you are a teacher, is that you DON'T know everything, and that you should also continue to practice and learn. Luckily, I am an eager student of all things nature. I'm excited to share my outdoor experiences with you, and hopefully will inspire someone else to discover the restorative powers of soil, sun, and sky.
